Sunburst music fest was definitely one helluva concert/gig worth remembering. Awesome line up of artists, 12 hours back to back from 2pm until 2am and the fact it was held in KL. The gig actually ended much later than that. I still remember that I was contemplating whether or not I should purchase the ticket on the last day of the Early Bird promo sales and thank god I did not hesitate and it was definitely worth every penny of it.

Just before we were to head out, I asked Andrew if we should go with just shorts (wardrobe check, lol). He was saying why not just put on a pair of jeans cos it’ll last till night. Haha, big mistake which the three of us regretted horribly. I’ll tell you why later
There were four main stages in the arena which were Sun and Sky (the main stages), Hitz.fm and Era.

We were there around 2.30pm and the gate was yet to open for all the gig-goers. The crowd was just warming up at the entrance of Bukit Kiara and slowly building into swarms of thousands of people. I met David and Duncan who came shortly after me. Also met Putri and her friend, Hana. And later met Roze and Nicolette who were there with Media passes. *jealous* Of course there were many more whom I bumped into as people started crowding the arena like Palai (gosh, I haven’t seen this dude in ages), Jean (we tried looking for one another for so long and finally bumped into each other under the rain), Jen (whom I tapped her back when I saw her from the back, it was good being drenched under the heavy pour yeah? haha), Najib (who was also carrying a Media tag and was busy shooting) and many more peeps. Sorry if I didn’t mention but I doubt you guys read my blog.
The Rodeo! was the first mini game the three of us got so hyped up. Oh btw, I came with Andrew and Navin who bought their tickets like 2 days before the event itself. One after another, we rode the mechanical bull and off we went with a wild and rough ride. Thanks to Roze who shot the photos above, the fall was damn classic. Haha

Meet Widy of Gerhana Ska Cinta. I loved their music, the way they put the instruments together and especially her spirit to lift up the crowd. This would be the end of the road for them as Gerhana Ska Cinta and I have to say it was a certainly great show!
We went to catch Gigi after that, an indonesian band. He was a freaking awesome entertainer. Dressed in pink and black straps tee, he greeted the crowd with jokes that sometimes we don’t understand, the likes of WTFs and constant spirit lifting messages. He was also pretty caring bout the environment if I was not mistaken and threw a couple of mineral bottles for the thirsty crowd under the hot sun.

L-R: Shakir, Palai, me, Andrew and Navin. The two on the left came all the way from Malacca and it was good seeing you there Palai. He had a huge ass cross tattoo on his right arm which he only tayang-ed on his facebook. Bugger, lol.

Next up was Pop Shuvit, now who’s laughing at who when the rain came pouring down like cats and dogs? Lucky enough I brought my huge ass rain coat courtesy of Shell, hehe where I did my internship. It has a huge ass Shell logo at the back of it. We sorta shared the rain coat for a while but pretty much didn’t bother after that. I knew I was the first to gave up and mandi hujan. The feeling was exhilarating! I gotto say Pop Shuvit really rocked the crowd and joined us under the rain.
It was the band Hujan right after and as the rain began to subside, the weather took another drastic turn and came pouring down again when they played “Pagi yang gelap.” They also played “Amoi cantek” which was a rather catchy song though which I have not heard before the gig in Sunburst. There were many more but I’m too lazy to write already. Basically we were walking back and forth between the stages so not to miss any main acts. Raul Midon with his mind blowing guitar skills on acoustic, Bittersweet who played some Artic Monkeys, The Roots who was awesome too and One Buck Short which I bought one of their tee to change into. Regretted that I missed Reza Salleh which I first wanted to go for.

After that I sorta walked around aimlessly feeling extremely hungry, had an awesome beef burger and hot dog from Planet Hollywood while anticipating for the main artists of the night. John Legend’s show was reaaaally good. He would be a total heart breaker among the girls and his r&b-soul-jazzy songs were really breathtaking. He invited this lucky lady, Nisha if I remembered her name correctly up the stage when he sang “Slow dance.” The crowd practically went mad over that.

Midnight came by and the crowd cheered for the arrival of Incubus. Everybody was practically squeezing and oozing one another just to get as near as possible to the stage. It was really awesome to hear so many people singing to their lyrics all at the same rhythm. Memang layan la whole night. Although I had to say that the organizers shouldn’t have postponed Search and Estranged’s show because the schedule sorta ran off the track. I was really hoping to see Estranged especially. Nonetheless, it was an AWESOME 12 hours gig and I guess everybody couldn’t be bothered much lesser with their weak knees, exhausted body and painful throats.
Watch this video taken by Andrew of Incubus playing Drive. Awesome classic track.
Hopefully there will be MORE music fest like this held in KL.
Have a good weekend everyone!
