Quiksilver Revolution 2.0

January 28, 2008

Last Saturday, I went for the Quiksilver Revo 2.0 in Sunway Surf Beach with a buncha bloggers. It was an all wet and wild parteh. The surf competition was the first to take place when we arrived.

Ze big ass wave. Awesome competition by most of the surfers, there was this guy who had two surf boards and actually hopped from one onto another board, was a unique attempt.

Then came the skate boarding showcase on the half pipe. I really like this picture, gives a lil WIIIIDEEE feeling lol

3.jpg

A superb stunt by the emcee who was literally emceeing while hanging high up in the air, I seriously have no idea how he did that.

4.jpg

Borned in Korea and raised in Sweden, Jocke (pronounced as Ioki) Olsson who rides for Billabong did a back flip to cheer the crowd up. Probably posing as a competitor to Quiksilver, haha

Thanks, Boy Ipoh for the info!

Even the best falls down, sometimes :P

Then it was the live gigs, couldn’t be any excited and we rushed right at the front line of the stage. One buck short was certainly awesome, they got the crowd all so hyped up!

A group photo by the half pipe to conclude the day. It sorta rained cats and dogs later that evening so we made our way to Mcds for a really late lunch for me, a reallly tasty dinner for most of em after the 4 hours of sun-tanning.

Had fun, totally and met buncha new friends. Thanks Smashie for the tix!

Straight from the club and it’s food on your plate,
Love Mackie Diz, but not today,
Think I’m in the mood for some cool teh,
Tell JJ, I think I found a winner,

Lesson 101

January 6, 2008

Yesterday, I encountered a near-death experience which gave me the shock of my life.

I was driving to Seremban when it was somewhat raining quite heavily. I would constantly bump into puddles of water and had to drive over it because the so-called old road to Seremban wasn’t entirely in a good condition. To tell you the truth, I decided not to take the highway because of the toll hike plus I wasn’t rushing so I thought I’d take a slow drive.

At this particular corner nearby a housing area in Mambau, I ran into this huge puddle of oil thinking it was water at approx 80km/hour and I tell you, shit happened. I lost control of my car and in my mind, I was telling myself… “Koyaklah, sure buang edy!” Imagine the panic attack I had when my car was drifting from left to right and vice versa. Within that very split second, I did my best and jammed the brake as hard as I could.

I saw several cars on the opposite lane trying to avoid me in the course of not wanting a collision which will then probably lead to an accident. Thanks to the creation of ABS and EBD which I’d like to think saved my life from the slippery surface, I finally managed to maneuver it back on track shortly after the drifting. I tried to calm myself down after that and drove as slowly and carefully as I could.

It was certainly a close encounter and I am thankful nothing horrible has happened. Lesson learnt.

Always remember to be extra extra careful everytime you stumble upon a puddle of water when driving under the rain.
