Of sunset and seafood

October 28, 2007

Gary and Grace came down to PD during the Raya weekend. I was more than happy to have them around because PD has always been a quiet town and it would be great to have company especially uni friends. They came down after lunch hour and dropped by my house for a short while. We left for a tea break in the Kopitiam where we had some toasts, coffee and a long chat. Gary wanted ‘gonuts’ so we headed off to S2 for Big Apple doughnuts but unfortunately it was closed for Raya. The disappointment was ultimately lifted by the good shopping bargain, haha. Next time we go again, dude!

Both of them wanted to watch the sun set so I brought them to the beach near the Yacht Club. There’s this wooden bridge connecting a some sort lagoon by the beach to a mini island nearby. There’s practically nothing in the island but rocks and lightly dense forest but you’ll never know unless you really venture deep into it. Of course, we did not opt for that little adventure instead sat back by the rocks and enjoy the sunset.

Usually, we’ll be able to watch the bright orange sun sets far far away in the ocean. Today, we ran outta luck again because it was rather cloudy so it wasn’t really that clear of a sunset. A photo of the three of us just as we welcome the moon who takes over the night. Photo’s not really clear because once again, I didn’t bring the tripod.

It was dinner time and we’ve been talking bout having seafood since they came down here. So I brought them to this famous seafood restaurant known for it’s grilled seafood selection. This restaurant has been around for quite a few decades and it is a family business. The crowd was massive probably because it was the first day of Hari Raya which was of course a holiday to all.

Gary, tahan lapar smiling. And Grace who wanted crabs but they ran out of it that day. Sorry :P The food turned out to be rather average only maybe because of the huge crowd. Believe it or not, a small restaurant like this was totally full house.

This is the 3-flavoured grilled fish served with lady’s finger and fish balls stuffed with minced pork.

One of their famous dishes, deep fried tofu with cucumber.

Then, there was also the grilled sotong with sambal.

Lastly, a plateful of bean sprout to go along with the grilled selection of seafood.

After dinner, we hung out at the resorts nearby my house and walked around the water chalets enjoying the breeze from the ocean. Gary dropped me back home after that and headed off to Cyber.

It was great hanging out with you guys, come again next time and I’ll bring you guys for water sports and more seafood;) Crabs guaranteed this time.. hehe

The beginning

October 22, 2007

Today, ladies and gentleman is my first day to work.

I was excited yet I had slight panicky feeling. Butterflies in stomach, you know-lah.

Then rain started pouring like nobody’s business. Cats and dogs doing their meow and woff. I was drenched from head to toe because I had to walk under the rain for quite a distance. And it was only 8 am in teh morning, MAN!

Ok, no complains. First day to work.

This is my desk, and some of the items I was given as an intern which also includes a Lerun bike.

Therefore I am happy because I don’t have to walk anymore.

Okay, bed’s tempting me already.

Gotto sail, ciaos.

Bandung Extended

[Small talk: This will be my last entry on the Jakarta trip, prolly most of you got bored of it already lol. This is gonna sound a bit nut case but I can't wait to be working this coming Monday and I hope they'll bombard me with lotsa work to do, hahaha]

On the average, at least 7 out of 10 cars on the roads in Jakarta are Toyota. I didn’t know that Indonesians are big fan of Toyota. Nonetheless, the irony of it is that they don’t call it Toyota here. Instead, they were all named after a deer or in other words “Kijang” which I thought was probably a more attractive name to convince the buyers here that this ride can run as fast as a deer. Errr? Reality check, it is actually more powerful than the usual Toyota we have back in Malaysia. Let’s take a Kijang Innova for example, two-wheel drive vehicle with the features like a rugged suspension and larger ground clearance of a four-wheel drive and is priced relatively cheaper also.

So, it’s basically a cheaper and more powerful ride.

Event Day

October 15, 2007
[Small talk: It's bout time I blogged about the real event day in Jakarta. I realise that I've been really slacking these days, trying to enjoy the last few days before I officially start my intern :D ]

The event day finally approached. A set of competition was specially designed for the Media affiliates in Jakarta to provide opportunities for them to have hands on experience on the superior HSDPA network and its services in Indonesia. Of course, it was also meant for the members of media to mingle and get in-touch with one another. The event was named “HSDPA Media Gaming Competition” and was made solely for the Media Experience.

As I have said earlier, it took place at the main Coffee Bean outlet in the Pondok Indah Mall 2. The venue was strategic and was nonetheless nicely decorated with a giant backdrop of the event, projectors, screens, visualizer and of course seats all properly arranged in the air-conditioned room. Our beloved VIPs, guests and media members started to arrive and slowly filled up the spaces in the venue before the event officially begins.
