When I got back from campus in the evening, I was frustrated to notice that the elevator has broken down yet again. The elevator indicator wasn’t displaying anything which obviously pointed out that it is dysfunctional at that instance. To my dismay, the only option I had was to climb the flight of stairs which at that point of time seemed eternity to me.
I’m quite sure you know what I mean after you have had an extremely exhausting day. Just when I was about to make a step towards the walkway heading up the stairs, two guys walked towards the lift and ended up in dismay just like I did earlier. I stood there observing for a moment, thinking some miracle could happen so I don’t have to climb the stairs.
After several attempts pressing the ‘UP’ directional button, nothing happened as well. So this dude pointed to his other friend the emergency switch (fireman’s switch) and said, let me show you magic! So he switched it on and triggered the alarm.
His friend was about to stop him from attempting something silly like that but it was too late. The alarm triggered. Several seconds later, I could see the elevator’s indicator being revived. It was flickering a little while and came to live. The lift came from Level 6 where my unit is to the Ground level. The three of us broke into laughter. This dude switched off the alarm before we proceed into the elevator.
I was overjoyed, the fact I don’t have to climb the flight of stairs and that I was there to witness such bizzare incident. Who the heck ever thought that one can bypass the elevator programmed system with the fireman’s switch? Thus today, someone has made history.
Let’s call it: Dude’s Law of Gravity (Extended version)
Haha, I know it’s lame.
p/s: Try at your own risk!
